Two photos in kyung Yeon's beautiful apartment

We were spoiled by Kyung Yeon and her husband as we spent Sunday "taking a rest" as they say in Korea. Her husband picked us up and took us to their apartment almost an hour away. She had a big delicious meal waiting for us (sounds like that is all we are doing, doesn't it?).  Then we watched their wedding video and saw their beautiful pictures. Eun Yeong came later and took us home. It was so sweet of her to do this.

Korean homes have fewer things than our crowded furniture stuffed homes in the US.

Will post more pictures from the day after Jim sends them to my ipad. Tomorrow we are going to an indoor amusement park with Yoona, the to visit Yonsei University where Eun Yeoung works then to dinner with them.

Department store....bottom floor food store and food court

A
A veritable moving feast... You Sit down and the food comes by. You take what you want. The color of the plate indicates the price.

Dried fish you buy in bulk at the supermarket.

Beautiful Popsicles that have slices of fruit embedded within.

German cookies you "smash" to eat we were told.

We got scolded for taking photos, but Jim kept taking them anyways. Ray and Jan, look what we found! ( we also found it in another store too!)

Carefully wrapping a watermelon... Good thing too, as they cost about $36.00 each! Pretty amazing.

Shopping carts... Small compared to US.

Many kinds of kimchi.

The Namdemun market....great place to see so many things.

Red pepper powder...the main spice for many dishes, including kimchi

Spending time with our Korean girls

Kyung Yeon  and Nahyun picking us up at the hotel to take us to dinner. We went to a wonderful restaurant a bit outside of Seoul in a neighborhood that was very hilly and a place I would love to live if we ever did. Away from the busy hustle bustle. The next picture show the name of the restaurant embroidered on a napkin. Don't know the translation.

We were in our own little private room. We had many different courses with "modernized" Korean traditional food. Smoked salmon, fabulous pork and duck and crunchy soft shelled crabs and shrimp. Various pancakes - kimchi and vegetable. Delicious salads and side dish vegetables.

A beautiful picture of the kids and the girls. Now all grown up beautifully poised women. It was a most special night we'll never forget.

Second day on Jeju

More fun on day 2 on the island. More sightseeing and an afternoon on the beach. Here's a  picture of the island.

Went to this beautiful waterfall....

And the lava tubes...

Jeju is spotted all over with rock walls...lava rocks.

Onto a great lunch of Bulgogi

The mysterious road that when you stop your car (or bus in this case) the vehicle rolls "down" the hill, even though it looks and feels as though you are going up a hill.

Checking on the degree/angle of the road and testing it with water.

Claire and Rachel playing in the sand.

Me, after swimming, relaxing with a book.

Next day we were off to Gwanju, Jaden's birth city.
